Ready to Lead!

"For nearly a decade, I’ve worked alongside parents, teachers, principals, and district leaders to strengthen Broward County Public Schools. Now I’m ready to take that service and leadership to the School Board!"

Cynthia Dominique

Service. Action. Leadership.

My name is Cynthia Dominique and I look forward to being your next Broward School Board Member for District 7!

I am a wife, nurse educator, Army Soldier of 23 years, and the proud mother of four amazing children who attend Broward County Public Schools. As a Broward native, a proud product of Broward County Public Schools, and a graduate of Coconut Creek High School, this community is my home.

I was raised by an immigrant mother who spoke very little English and never had the opportunity to attend school. She could not read the papers that came home from school and could not always help me navigate the educational system. However, she valued education and always encouraged me to "go to school, do your work, and do well." She also taught me the importance of serving others. These experiences fueled my passion for advocacy and shaped a lifetime of service to my community.

When my own children began attending Broward County Public Schools, I decided to invest my time, energy, and passion into our schools from day one. For nearly a decade, I have volunteered throughout our schools and district, serving on committees and as the Chair of the District Advisory Council.

Through this work, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges our teachers face, witnessed the struggles experienced by students and families, identified gaps in academic achievement, and seen the disparities in school facilities and resources based on ZIP code. I have worked alongside principals as we navigated shrinking school budgets while prioritizing student needs. As Chair of the District Advisory Council, I hear concerns from hundreds of parents, teachers, and students. I elevate their voices, advocate for their needs, and collaborate with district leadership to find solutions. These experiences have allowed me to see what works, recognize what does not, and work diligently to improve our schools.

When my oldest daughter started kindergarten and began riding the school bus, I never knew whether it would arrive early or, more often, late. I partnered with the Transportation Department to develop a parent survey to better understand families' needs. That effort led to the implementation of a pilot program for the Here Comes the Bus tracking application during summer school, and ultimately to its expansion for thousands of families at the beginning of the following school year. I will bring this same solution focused leadership to the Broward County School Board.

I am running after years of dedicated service because our children deserve someone who will fight for them, especially when they do not have someone to advocate on their behalf. District 7 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and advocates for our community. Our teachers and school staff deserve better pay, greater support, and the respect they have earned. Our community deserves accountability, transparency, and responsible leadership.

As your next Broward County School Board Member for District 7, I will always put students first. Their academic achievement, safety, and well being will remain my highest priorities. I am committed to continuing the work I have done for nearly a decade, but with an even greater opportunity to engage our community, advocate for equity, and ensure your tax dollars are used wisely.

Together, we can build stronger schools, stronger communities, and a brighter future for Broward County, where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

I would be truly grateful to earn your support.
