Mom. Veteran. Nurse Practitioner. Educator. Leader.

Ready to Lead!
For nearly a decade, I’ve served in classrooms, and throughout the district to lead meaningful change and strengthen Broward County Public Schools. Every child deserves excellence regardless of where they attend school. Our community deserves leadership that shows up, ask tough questions, make challenging decisions, and demand better for our students, educators and staff.
Service. Action. Leadership.
My name is Cynthia Dominique and I look forward to being your next Broward School Board Member for District 7!
I am a wife, Army veteran, Teacher, Nurse Practitoner and the proud mother of four amazing children who attend Broward County Public Schools. As a Broward native, a proud product of Broward County Public Schools, and a graduate of Coconut Creek High School, this community is my home.

I am running after years of dedicated service and leadership because our children deserve someone who will fight for every single one of them. District 7 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and advocates for our community.
As your next Broward County School Board Member for District 7, I will always put students first and prioritize
-
Academic excellence and achievement for every student.
-
Schools that are safer, well maintained and support student mental health.
-
Competitive compensation and support for teachers and staff.
-
Accountability, transparency, and responsible leadership.
-
Greater parent engagement and community partnerships.

I was raised by an immigrant mother who never had the opportunity to attend school. She could not read the papers that came home from school and could not always help me navigate the educational system. However, she valued education and always encouraged me to "go to school, do your work, and do well." She also taught me the importance of serving others. These experiences fueled my passion for advocacy and shaped a lifetime of service to my country and community.

When my own children began attending Broward County Public Schools, I decided to invest my time, energy, and passion into our schools from DAY ONE. For nearly a decade, I have served in classrooms, schools and throughout the district- on the PTA, School Advisory Council, School Advisory Forum, on multiple district committees, Chair of North Area Advisory Council serving over 65+ schools and as the Chair of the District Advisory Council which represented every student and school in BCPS.

Through this work, I have gained a deep understanding of the challenges our teachers face, witnessed the struggles experienced by students and families, identified gaps in academic achievement, and seen the disparities in some school facilities and resources. I have worked alongside principals as we navigated shrinking school budgets while prioritizing student needs. I hear concerns from hundreds of parents, teachers, and students. I elevate their voices, advocate for their needs, and collaborate with district leadership to find solutions. These experiences have allowed me to see what works, recognize what doesn't, and work diligently to improve our schools.

When my oldest daughter started kindergarten and began riding the school bus, I never knew whether it would arrive on time. Rather than simply accepting the problem, I partnered with the Transportation Department to develop a parent survey to better understand families' needs. Worked with developers on a pilot of the Here Comes the Bus tracking app during summer school and, ultimately, its expansion to over fifty thousand Broward families the following school year. This improved student safety and parent communication.

Later, when approving the budget with the principal, I realized that if I had questions about the budget process, others likely did as well. I brought together the district's Budget Department, Federal Programs staff, and school principals to develop the first districtwide community budget training, giving school leaders and families a better understanding of how budgets are developed, managed and how we can better invest our dollars. Because of this advocacy, millions of dollars were returned to schools during the 25-26 school year.

When parents shared concerns about transitioning to middle school, I created the Middle School Expo, bringing schools together in one location so families could learn about academic programs, ask questions, and make informed choices. The expo helped ease parents' concerns while increasing awareness of the opportunities available in Broward County Public Schools and ultimately boosting enrollment.

I have advocated for increased teacher pay, better support and work conditions for teachers and have made great progress this year.

These experiences reflect how I approach leadership: I listen, I collaborate, and I focus on practical solutions that improve outcomes for students, families and teachers. I will bring that same solution-focused leadership to the Broward County School Board. My professional experiences, combined with the breadth of knowledge I've gained through serving in our district, in a variety of leadership roles and collaborating with departments and community partners has given me a well-rounded understanding of our district and what needs to change. These experiences have prepared me to lead with knowledge from day one.

Together, we can build stronger schools, stronger communities, and a brighter future for Broward County Public Schools, where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

I would be truly grateful to earn your support.
